RnB & Soul Star Lungisa Xhamela is currently the it man! The talented singer & Songwriter scooped the Best RnB/Soul album at the 26th Annual South African Music Awards just a week ago. The award itself follows the success of his debut album My Heart to Your Soul which dropped in September 2019.
The former Idols SA contestant is not letting his wave die out just yet, as he has just dropped a brand-new single. Lungisa Xhamela’s new single Mina Nawe follows the success of his previous single Yiza Sambe released earlier this year which did extremely well on South African airwaves and music television channels.
Lungisa describes Mina Nawe as a song that merges deep Xhosa lyrics with an American RnB and Trap Soul sound creating a beautiful fusion of two different worlds. His fans are evidently excited about the new release as they have been expressing on Lungisa’s social media platforms. Onwards upwards from here for Mr Xhamela.
Lungisa Xhamela shot to fame on popular television show Idols South Africa back in 2015 where he reached the Top 8 in Season 11. The dapper singer hails from the Eastern Cape and has been hard at work promoting his album and brand since signed to Gallo Record Company in 2017.
His unique voice and charismatic personality are very distinctive traits that Lungisa is well known for. His voice is artfully blended with thought provoking lyrics that have brought life to the singles coming off his South African Music Award winning debut album ‘My Heart to Your Soul’.
My Heart to Your Soul has given fans three hit singles already, which makes Mina Nawe the 4th single to come out of the album. He was quickly recognised for his debut single titled Ilove letter which gained lots of popularity amongst music lovers and received high rotation on national radio stations.
We had Kas’lam TV’s very own T. Rapz catch up with Lungisa on IG live to talk about what has been an incredibly beautiful & inspiring journey so far. T. Rapz had Lungisa talking about everything from entering the Idols SA competition, Signing with Gallo Records, the release of his award winning debut Album as well as the new single that dropped today.
We also got to learn a few personal things about Lungisa outside his music career. The humble Singer is actually a Pastor’s son, who himself is a Pastor in training and still sings at his Church Choir. He’s also a proud Arsenal fan who is delighted by their recent FA cup victory over Chelsea. However, when it comes to Sport, Cricket is actually his first love.
Lungisa Xhamela also shared that he is working on an online Live Concert where he’ll be performing the entire album for the very first time.
