Sonke, who stole most of SA’s hearts during his run at the 9th season of Idols SA is back with a new love ballad titled ‘Angikhathali’. Makhosonke Mazibuko who is now signed under Mabala Noise was one of SA’s fan favourites on Idols SA back in 2013, making it as far as the Top 3. Fans can also remember Sonke being one of Unathi’s favourites and they seemed to have a close relationship during the run of the 9th season.
Having gone MIA since his wonderful run on Idols SA, Makhosonke Mazibuko has just dropped a beautifully delivered love song titled ‘Angikhathali’. The song marks his return to the mainstream after deciding to take a break for a while. Fans will be excited to know that the song is leading up to an album anticipated to drop next year (2021).
Sonke is excited to be back in studio to deliver what he does best, which is love songs. ‘Angikhathali’ dropped on the 7th of August and has since kept the 28 years old Singer/Songwriter pretty busy doing a lot of interviews. A lot of fans are excited to hear Sonke back at it, he hasalso hinted on dropping 1 or 2 more singles before the year ends.
Makhosonke Mazibuko started performing at the age of 6 and he was exposed to the industry by partaking in various talent shows. Early in his journey he the Soweto Gospel Choir and stayed
with them for 3 years. He’s toured South Africa, London and France with the choir and shared the stage with musicians like Celine Dion, Mary J Blidge, Danny K, Loyiso Bala, Steven Molakeng and Johnny Clegg…. Just to name a few.
He then decided it was time to spread his wings and fly solo, that decision led him to entering thye 9th season of Idols SA back in 2013. Making it to the top 3 and being one of the fan favourites, we all anticipated Sonke to hit the ground running after the competition but that wasn’t to be. It wasn’t until 2018 when he was picked up by Mabala Noise and finally got the break he deserves. Now he’s back with a new jam and promises to deliver a full album in the near future of 2012.
We caught up with him on a Kas’lam TV IG Live interview to chat more about his journey and all his works. Sonke shared some great insight to his journey and also had some funny stories regarding the challenges that come with popularity.
