DJ Love Pro is a self-taught Music Producer, sound engineer and Musician that hails from the dusty and vibey streets of Etwatwa in Daveyton. Real names Sphiwe Nhlapho, DJ Love Pro is an exceptionally talented Producer / Engineer that has put in major work in the industry but kept his name in the background. Having worked as a sound engineer and co-produced for a number of Artists, including the likes of Red button, Riky Rick, Davido and a whole lot more.
As a Musician, he holds quite a strong music catalog of his own. Dropping an album titled ‘It’s Hard to Believe’ back in 2013, with numerous radio singles dropping over the years. The Artist / Producer has quite a versatile style and sound, delivering anything from Hip-Hop, Afro-Pop, House to Ama-Piano. With a powerful and crude production style, he holds production credits for a number of Artists.
He is currently working closely with former CashTime Fam member Fab Futur3, also known as AB Fab. The 2 are in studio working on what is said to be Fab futur3’s upcoming album, as DJ Love is handling the production on the project and also features on a few tracks. He also produced T. Rapz’ recently released single, titled ‘Everyday’.
We caught up with the DJ Love on Kas’lam TV’s IG live to dig deeper on what’s been a very interesting, eventful and inspiring journey. On the interview, He talks about starting from scratch know nothing about music, recording or production to joining his church choir going all the way to becoming the music Director of the Choir.
His music Journey started back in 2005, as he then realised that he had an ear for music. DJ Love Pro started out with just playing the Djembe in his church choir, he then went on to teach himself the Piano. While ion the streets, him and his friends stumbled to what was then an unfamiliar software called FL Studio. He taught himself music production, mixing and mastering through a friend’s computer.
In 2007, he ventured into music vocals and was part of a group called Super Naturals, alongside Sabtourman and the late Angel Boy. In 2013, his work earned him the ‘Best producer award. From the African Blood Performing Arts. He also won ‘Best Producer’ and ‘Best Male Vocalist’ at the Daveyton Hip-Hop Music Awards back in 2015. In 2018, he won the ERC ‘Best Audio Engineer’ award, as he continues to build a strong and solid brand.
