Idols SA season 15 contestant Nolo released his sophomore single today. The single titled “Ke Rata Wena” meaning “I Love you”, brings about a fresh R&B sound inspired by traditional melodies and taking from African Indigenous sounds.
The lyrics are built on an epic production created by well-respected producer “Sakhile”, well known for producing albums for artists such as CeCe, Donald and Blaq Diamond. “I’ve always wanted to write a song that would be relevant to different kinds of relationships, a song you could dedicate to your cherry, sister, mother, brother and anyone you hold close to your heart” – Nolo.
“When Sakhile (producer) first played me the raw instrumental, it only took me a few seconds then I was hooked. It really felt like the perfect canvas for the kind of message/energy I was trying to let out. A few hours later we had a song. I am really proud of this song.”
Nolo is celebrating his background by using Setswana and a bit of Spitori in his music. The song is a heartfelt rendition of love. “Ke Rata Wena” is the second single release from Nolo’s upcoming EP.
Nolo is well known for being a part of Idols SA season15 (2019), making it all the way to the Top 4 out of thousands of hopefuls. Post Idols, Nolo signed under Gallo Record Company which saw him release his first single under the label titled “Nguwe”. The single enjoyed airplay support from radio stations across the county.
