Real names Dikeledi Letebele, The sing, act & dance triple threat started her career on Theatre productions back in 2012. She has worked and toured on productions like the ‘ANC Centenary Musical’, Dr Mbongeni Ngema’s ‘Number 43’, The Dots – Alexandra Township & Dr Mbongeni Ngema’s Movie ‘Asinamali’ to name a few from a long list.

Last year (2020), she solidified her name within the music industry when she dropped her breakout single titled ‘Solomon’. The song talks about a young couple who were married during their early 20’s, years later after the wife conceived their 1st child, her partner who cared for his family is now no longer interested as his heart was stolen by a Nyatsi. Basically, Solomon is all the deadbeat (runaway) fathers out there.

Deekay says the song ‘Solomon’ connected her with a lot of single Moms out there in a way she didn’t anticipate it would. She says a lot of them would and still get in contact with her in appreciation of how she’s sent a powerful message of standing firm and strong as a single mother.

Deekay has now linked up with 2Point1 on a track titled ‘Jwaleng Mo’ to remake Brenda Fassie’s legendary hit single ‘Ntsware – Ndibambe’. “Growing up I really looked up and listened to Brenda Fassie and Lebo Mathosa a lot, so 2Point1 had this idea that I actually have a bit of Brenda and Lebo in my vocal delivery so how about we remind people of the legacy of these queens” says Deekay.

Deekay says we should expect a year of many more hits from her as she is currently working on new music and a few collaborations. One of the collaborations she said we should really look out for, is a collaboration with Nokwazi which she says is currently in the works. WATCH THE INTERVIEW ON KAS’LAM TV.
