DJ Mdix called up Mlindo The Vocalist to take us on a high with his new single ‘Cloud 9’. The nationwide lock-down might have pushed back everyone’s plans for 2020, but DJ Mdix is certain that 2020 will end off with a bang. ‘Cloud 9’ is a very catch and vibey house jam, with Mlindo the Vocalist bringing his afro house element.
DJ Mdix says he wanted to do a love song that will heal South African hearts and lift up their spirits leading to the end of what’s been a very tough year. The club and recording DJ from Gamalakhe, Port Shepstone in KwaZulu-Natal says he wanted to bring a love song where the guy actually gets the girl, instead of all these sad / breakup songs that have been coming out.
With that vision in mind, it was only right for him to call up his homeboy Mlindo the Vocalist. The song will definitely take you on a high with a beautiful & mellow afro house production from Masiano. Mlindo the Vocalist definitely shoots it out of the sky with his usual smooth and soothing delivery on vocals.
DJ Mdix has since elevated his career with hit songs such as uMvulo ft. Zanda Zakuza, Mphintsi Yam ft. Professor, Ixesha ft. Mawande and iZethembiso ft. Sindi Mabika. The music video for iZethembiso enjoyed massive airplay on TRACE, Channel O and MTV Base. uMvulo ft. Zanda Zakuza, saw him making the list for ‘Song of the Year – 2016’. Through his unique sets and performances, DJ Mdix has become one of South Africa’s favourite DJs.
After parting ways with his previous record label, he decided to open his own record label namely, Giya Music. Giya focuses on new talent especially vocalists as he successfully discovered Zanda Zakuza, whom he produced songs with. DJ Mdix also gives back his time by mentoring the youth and teaching them the basic workings of a turntable. He is sure that this initiative will grow through Giya Music.
