#SAMA25 Record of the year holder Holly Rey, is once a again a contender for the title. Holly Rey became the first woman to win the SAMA ‘Record of the Year‘ award in 20 Years with her single ‘Deeper’ at the 25th annual South African Music Awards.
Holly Rey’s dominance didn’t just end there. The Afro-electro house Artist released her single ‘You’ in 2019, which picked up from where ‘Deeper’ left off. She followed up the single ‘You’ with an 8 track EP also tiled ‘You’. With the release of you, she continued her dominance on the Airwaves as well as the dance floors.
She is once again in the running for the #SAMA26 Record Of The Year Award. Although she says she’s not so confident on winning it this time around, her nomination is still testament to her hard work. Holly Rey will is also headlining the performance list of the #SAMA26 Finale.
We decided to catch up with Holly Rey and talk everything from her dominance so far, leading up to new music on the way. She had a chat with T. Rapz and they spoke about everything from being an independent Artist to the effects of the Lock-down on the Music industry. Although She says the Lock-Down hasn’t hit her that hard (financially) because she has other businesses within and outside music, she does sympathise with everyone affected.
She also assured us that she is working on new music. “As a Crossover Artist, I get a lot of request for features from Artists who are also trying to cross-over as well”. Although She says she worked on a few collaborations prior and during the Lock-down, when it comes to her own music she tries to stay away from features. She did confirm she will be dropping a new project soon.
